A 32-year-old motorist in San Diego was critically injured when he was shot six times in the head while driving in City Heights.

  • Incident: The shooting occurred just after 10:15 p.m. on Polk Avenue near 36th Street.

  • Details of the Shooting: A man walking in the area fired at least 16 shots at the vehicle as it traveled east on Polk Avenue.

  • Investigation: Police found 16 9mm shell casings at the scene and are investigating the incident.

  • Suspect Description: The suspect was reported to be wearing a light-colored hoodie and dark pants at the time of the shooting.

A fatal crash on southbound Interstate 163 resulted in the deaths of four individuals, involving two overturned vehicles and subsequent DUI arrests of both drivers involved.

  • The crash occurred around 1:30 a.m., involving two Toyota Prius vehicles and a Toyota Tacoma flipped on its roof.

  • Four individuals died as a result: two at the scene and two after being taken to a local hospital.

  • All fatalities were occupants of one of the Prius vehicles, which came to rest on the left shoulder.

  • The driver of the overturned Tacoma was arrested on suspicion of DUI; the truck had no passengers.

  • Similarly, the driver of the second Prius, which ended up on the right shoulder, was also arrested on suspicion of DUI; there were no passengers in this vehicle either.

  • A sig alert was issued, leading to the closure of all southbound lanes of I-163 with traffic redirected to Interstate 805.
