Everything You Need To Know About Our Newsletter (Please Read To The End)

Welcome to the North County Beat!

My name is Christian Garcia, and I am an editor at the North County Beat. I have lived in Carlsbad my whole life. Going to college in a vastly different area helped me realize how lucky we have it here in Southern California!

Because of this, I wanted to give back to the community I grew up in and start a local newsletter that would help bring the people of North County together and keep you updated on everything that’s happening in America’s finest city. I take great pride in saying that I’m from San Diego, and you should too.

We’re gonna give you a complete tour of our newsletter.

We are going to give you a synopsis of our daily newsletter, so please read until the end so you can take part in all the features you signed up for.

This is our referral program.

We are trying to grow as fast as possible, and to do that, we are going to incentivize you to do so. Referring people to our newsletter is EASY. Just click the button below, which will be in every email, and share the special link to whoever you like. The URL has a special string which ties it to your name.

Here are the rewards for your referrals:

3 referrals: birthday shoutout or the option to shoutout anyone you’d like

7 referrals: I will drive to your house, give you a high-five, take a picture, and put it on the newsletter (or we can meet somewhere if you’re not comfortable with that 😂)

10 referrals: Premium membership for life: NO ADS (once we start growing we will put ads on the newsletter) and exclusive content

20 referrals: First person to 20 referrals gets A brand-new Kitchen Aid Mixer ($350 value)

Rules For Referral Contest:

1. Referrals that are fraudulently created by opening new email accounts will not be accepted and your eligibility will be terminated.

2. Referrals may not include disposable email addresses (ex. [email protected]) or spam addresses. These will not count toward the referrals.

3. To count toward your referral goal, the referent (the person being referred) must verify their email to combat spam and fraudulent email addresses. If they do not verify their email, they do not count.

4. The contest starts July 21st and ends September 21st at 11:59pm.

Albertsons To Divest 11 Stores To Kroger In Proposed Merger

Kroger and Albertsons plan to divest 579 stores in a proposed merger, affecting California significantly.

• Kroger and Albertsons intend to sell 579 stores as part of their merger agreement, with a substantial number located in Southern California.

• The divestiture includes 11 stores in San Diego, such as Vons and Albertsons locations.

• Despite assurances from Kroger's CEO about job retention through the spin-off to C&S Wholesale Grocers, the merger faces opposition from the FTC over concerns of reduced competition and potential price hikes.

• The United Food and Commercial Workers union remains steadfast in its opposition, citing concerns about detrimental impacts on workers, consumers, suppliers, and communities, and legal challenges are set to proceed with hearings scheduled from late July through September.
