Pedestrian Hit And Killed While Trying To Cross I-5 Near Birmingham
A pedestrian attempting to cross Interstate 5 in Encinitas was fatally struck by a Tesla Model Y on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Incident occurred around 2:35 p.m. when the pedestrian ran into the southbound HOV lane.
The pedestrian was struck by a white Tesla Model Y just north of Birmingham Drive.
The pedestrian died at the scene, while the Tesla driver remained uninjured.

The Community Resource Center in Encinitas is planning a $10.5 million renovation to update its facilities and better serve its clients.
Location and Current Services: CRC serves 7,000 individuals annually in North County from its 1940s-era building at 650 Second Street.
Renovation Plans: The $10.5 million project includes remodeling the current office and building a new food and nutrition center on the adjacent property.
Objectives: The renovation aims to meet increased demand, improve food storage, provide more privacy for clients, and offer better amenities for staff.
Impact of COVID-19: The need for updated facilities became urgent during the pandemic as more people sought services.
Funding and Timeline: CRC launched the One Community, One Heart capital campaign to raise funds, with construction expected to start next fall.

McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad will resume commercial flights in February 2025 with American Airlines offering two daily flights to Phoenix, marking the return of services after nearly a decade.
American Airlines will offer two daily flights to Phoenix from McClellan-Palomar Airport starting February 2025.
Commercial airline services at Palomar ceased in 2015 due to economic conditions and airline interest changes.
Smaller regional jets will be used, with the FAA overseeing air traffic and TSA providing security screenings.
The airport contributes $165 million annually to the local economy and supports both business and leisure travel.
Tenants at the airport include several charter services and aviation companies, as well as The Landings restaurant.

Welcome to the North County Beat! I have lived in Carlsbad my whole life. Going to college in a vastly different area helped me realize how lucky we have it here in Southern California!
Because of this, I wanted to give back to the community I grew up in and start a local newsletter that would help bring the people of North County together and keep you updated on everything that’s happening in America’s finest city. I take great pride in saying that I’m from San Diego, and you should too.
This is our referral program.

Rules For Referral Contest:
